Short description: |
The subject is devoted to presentation and reviewing of contemporary currents of correctional treatment. The summing-up of its basic aspects will constitute the base to present a contemporary perspective of social rehabilitation including evolution of criminal policy and correctional treatment as well as the origin and the factors of development of institutionalized systems. There will be presented chosen theoretical attitudes to social rehabilitation including a present understanding of social disadaptation and corresponding models of diagnosis and social rehabilitation. There will be a review of present trends, such as a therapy of diverse impact, creative correctional treatment, art therapy and correctional psychology as well their meaning for educational practice. There will be a presentation of the examples of contemporary Polish, European and world solutions. |

Prerquisites: basic information knowledge in pedagogy, correctional pedagogy and institutional correctional system. The goal of the subject is to describe contemporary depiction of correctional education, its origin and evolution and some theoretical issues and practical solutions, including - basic aspects of correctional education (the notion, tasks, principles, strategies and procedures, methods) - changes in the approach towards correctional education - penal code evolution and the notion of a criminal punishment - contemporary correctional systems development origin and factors - selected theoretical approaches in the contemporary correctional education and some diagnosis models and correctional process - contemporary models of dealing with juveniles in Poland - using punctual economy in correctional process - diverse interaction theory and its implementing in the contemporary correctional process - creative correction - art-therapy and its implications in correctional practice - correctional psychology In the introduction part, after the recapitulation of the correctional education notion and its basic aspects, there is going to be presented evolution in the approach towards correctional education and a few models in the matter will be discussed. Next, there are going to be presented: origin, changes and penal code and punishment development factors as well as correctional process in the institutional conditions and contemporary correctional systems. There will also be presented selected theoretical approaches towards correctional process and relevant organizational forms both in Poland and in the world. To understand the idea of contemporary correctional process depiction more profoundly, there will be presented latest tendencies such as art-therapy, creative rehabilitation and correctional psychology. There will be introduced group work as well as development of computer and multimedia skills, within the above, skills in creating multimedia presentations. During the process of looking for information about European solutions language skills, especially English and German, will be developed. Estimated number of hours that students should devote to achieve desired effects of learning seminar - 12 hours self study work – 8 hours preparations for exams - 5 hours TOTAL approx.- 25 hours A list of topics: 1.Basic aspects of correctional treatment notion, tasks, principles, strategies and procedures, methods 2.Changes in the attitudes towards correctional treatment adaptation model, modern model, postmodern model 3.Evolution of criminal law and the notion of criminal punishment (theories and schools of criminal law as well as models of treatment of perpetrators) 4.Evolution in the attitude towards correction in institution conditions systems: disciplinary-isolating, progressive, sociopedagogical, individual, homogenic, complementary 5.Creating complementary systems of correctional treatment (origin and the factors of development as well as general characteristics) systems: common serving a sentence, cell, progressive, family, children’s republics and villages 6.Chosen theoretical attitudes used in contemporary correctional treatment hormistic, psychoanalitical, behavioral, humanistic, cognitive, interactive, multidimension, resilence 7.Chosen theories of social disadaptation vs. models of diagnosis and social rehabilitation behavioral, interactive, multidimensional 8.Contemporary models of the treatment of juveniles in Poland legal regulations institutions of correctional treatment in Poland execution of imprisonment 9.Psychodynamic methods of correctional activities individual and group forms, contemporary solutions based on the European and American institutions, treatment of sexual offenders, therapeutic communities 10.Application of point economy in social rehabilitation Assumptions, organizational forms, training of skills, programs 11.The theory of diverse impact and its application in contemporary social rehabilitation Methods of correctional treatment vs. individual characteristics of the detainees and the level of interpersonal maturity and H. Having finished the process of learning, a student: 1.explain the origin and contemporary correctional depiction development factors 2.distinguishes between classic (former) and contemporary approaches towards organizational forms of correctional education 3.describe functioning mechanisms of the contemporary institutional and non-institutional solutions 4.analyze the variety of used institutional and non-institutional solutions in Poland and other European and non-European countries 5.judge correctional interactions from the point of view of the contemporary world requirements and the needs and abilities of a ward 6.define aspects inspiring to further evolution of different solutions connected with correctional education 7.prepare presentations including the usage of multimedia technologies |
