Brief description
The course is the graduate lecture in international trade organizations and negotiations . The course is offered in English in the winter term. Its focus will be on new trends in the theory and practice of international trade negotiations. The objective of the course is to acquaint participants with the rules of international trade policy and selected practical issues of trade negotiations. The topics covered will include the elements of political economy of trade policy, the international trade rules of the GATT/WTO system, dispute settlement system of the WTO, techniques of trade negations, the history of multilateral (GATT/WTO) negotiations and recent negotiations of the European Union (TTIP and Brexit). Another objective of the course is to help students explore potential thesis topics in these areas. Students actively participating in the lectures will receive a premium for the final grade. |

Brief description
The aim of the course is to present and to discuss a broad range of issues related to international labour migration. Migration is one of the most prominent traits of contemporary world as it was clearly indicated by the term ‘age of migration’. All regions of the world experience massive flows of different kind – from settlement migration and labour mobility through transit migration to forced migration of asylum seekers and refugees. Immigrants have become a structural component of modern societies, especially in more developed countries, and are a subject of interest on various scientific disciplines (economics, sociology, political sciences). The importance of migration became clearly evident during the so called refugee or migration crisis (2014-2015) but it is commonly discussed in the context of long-term socio-economic developments (e.g. migration and ageing, migration-development nexus etc.) |

Brief description
Master's level course. The course is designed to study the main issues in international financial markets and management of international finance. Topics to be covered are: operation of exchange market and exchange rate determination models, methods of modern financial engineering in multinational corporations, exchange risk hedging, optimal capital structure of multinational corporation, international capital markets, borrowing and investing in foreign assets. Course crediting by written exam. |

Brief description
MA/BA level. The course is devoted to explaining the patterns of international location of economic activity. Topics discussed include the formation of industrial and service clusters, regional versus national specialization in production, the role of metropolitan areas as the engines of innovation, economic growth and regional development, declining and emerging regions, economic activity of population, regional unemployment and regional wage determination, international labour and human capital mobility, the role of foreign direct investment in shaping the world patterns of specialization. The seminar is designed mainly for Master of Arts in International Economics Program, however, exchange students visiting the Department of Economics at Warsaw University are also welcome to participate. Polish students with good working knowledge of English from other specialization fields can enroll subject to instructor's approval. The assesment is based on the presentation and the final paper. |
