Brief description

(in Polish) Celem zajęć jest poszerzenie perspektywy poznawczej studenta ekonomii poprzez przedstawienie procesów i zachowań ekonomicznych w ich ludnościowym kontekście. Efektem kształcenia jest umiejętność analizy i interpretacji procesów demograficznych w skali globalnej, regionalnej i jednostkowej.

Program kursu obejmuje podstawowe zjawiska demograficzne: małżeńskość i rozrodczość, zdrowie i umieralność, migracje międzynarodowe, prognozy ludnościowe. Nacisk jest położony na analizę ilościową oraz modelowanie zjawisk ludnościowych.

Zajęcia realizowane są jako konwersatorium oraz warsztaty w pracowni komputerowej.

Zajęcia adresowane są do studentów zainteresowanych weryfikacją teoretycznych zależności między zmiennymi ludnościowymi, społecznymi i ekonomicznymi.

Brief description

The course presents an outline of economic history of Western Europe from the late middle ages till the present. The material is presented in a more detailed in relation to the more recent history. The course focus especially on the evolution of markets - from the local in the middle ages to the global in the twentieth century. The aim of the course is also to discuss the origins of the modern capitalist economy.

The aim of the course is also to develop abilities of critical reading, academic writing and the communication skills of the students.

Brief description

The aim of this course is to teach students the history of economics. Potential effects of education are diversified: a / the ability to localize modern economic theory in its historical context; b / a better understanding of economics as a science, in particular the understanding of social, economic, political and cultural conditions of its development, also c / the ability to formulate and defend the claims and positions in written statements (essays) and oral presentations.The main part of the course begins with the reconstruction of Adam Smith's economics. In subsequent parts of the course the ideas of neoclassical economics, institutionalism, and historical school will be presented. As far as the modern economics is concerded the focus will be on the Keynesian revolution and the monetarist counter-revolution. Assesment on the basis of activity in class, written essay and a final examination
