Brief description

(in Polish) Cykl konwersatoriów ‘nauki społeczne wobec teraźniejszości’ ma na celu dyskusję nad aktualnymi zagadnieniami o kluczowym znaczeniu dla polityki, nauki, ekonomii, społeczeństwa oraz kultury. Zamiast jednolitej orientacji dyscyplinarnej, każdego roku skupimy się na jednym zagadnieniu, aby naświetlić je jednocześnie z perspektyw różnych nauk społecznych i humanistycznych. W ciągu konwersatorium będziemy mieli okazję zadać nasze pytania zaproszonym badaczom, którzy pokażą nam jakie światło rzuca na dyskutowane problemy ich praca naukowa. Tematem przewodnim tegorocznego konwersatorium jest relacja między publicznym i prywatnym. Konwersatorium prowadzone jest w języku polskim; część spotkań odbędzie się w języku angielskim. Organizowane przez Ośrodek Kultury Francuskiej i Studiów Frankofońskich UW oraz Centrum Badań Figuracyjnych na Instytucie Socjologii UW.

Brief description

This interdisciplinary seminar encompasses all fields of social sciences in the French and Francophone areas. Its wide range of topics will allow students to familiarize themselves with the diversity of complex and original theories, scientific analyses, and polemics of the contemporary French-speaking world. This will ground their understanding of their echoes in broader Polish, European, and global contexts.

The seminar is conducted in Polish, one or two meetings will be exceptionally held in English.

Organized by the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Warsaw and the Centre de civilisation francaise et d’etudes francophones.

The seminar is part of the network of debates taking place in many countries in Europe. It was initiated by the École Normale Supérieure Paris as part of the Actualité critique européenne interdisciplinary seminar. This seminar brings together researchers and students around issues of key importance to politics, science, economics, society and the arts. The theme of this year’s seminar is ‘crisis’.

The Francophone Social Sciences and Humanities Research Seminar is an interdisciplinary program. The term “francophone” encompasses research conducted by French-speaking scholars, including Polish researchers who closely engage with the Francophone academic world. The seminar's diverse range of topics will allow students to explore the richness, complexity, and originality of theories, scientific analyses, and debates present in the French-speaking intellectual community. Additionally, participants will gain insights into how these ideas resonate in broader contexts, including Polish, European, and global perspectives.
