Brief description
The course is focused on using intelligent methods for solving problems that are difficult or impractical to solve with other methods. Accordingly, we discuss, among the others, various approaches based on heuristics, approximations, randomized, as well as deductive and inductive schemes of reasoning, often designed by analogy to the human way of problem solving. The main topics include also intelligent search through large spaces of states and solutions, intelligent game strategies, reasoning in logic and logical foundations of planning, foundations of machine learning in relation to artificial intelligence, foundations of modeling of uncertainty, as well as various specialized applications. |

Brief description
The classes cover topics related to the structure of bacterial and archaeal genomes. Common and unique features of these organisms are emphasized. The processes of DNA replication and segregation, transcription, translation, and repair of DNA damaged by various types of mutations are discussed. Issues related to the regulation of prokaryotic gene expression are also addressed. The course includes both methodological aspects (genomics, metagenomics, transcriptomics, metatranscriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, metabolic modeling) and applied topics (identification and molecular typing of prokaryotic microorganisms, as well as the use of bacterial genetics in industry, medicine, and environmental protection). The exercises complement and expand upon the material covered in the lecture. |

(in Polish) Kurs jest wprowadzeniem do teorii i metod rozwiązywania podstawowych zadań obliczeniowych matematyki ciągłej, w których interesuje nas wartość numeryczna rozwiązania, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem zadań i algorytmów ważnych z punktu widzenia matematyki stosowanej, a także uczenia maszynowego. Główne grupy tematyczne zawierają: (A) podstawy teorii obliczeń numerycznych, (B) metody bezpośrednie dla zadań algebry liniowej, (C) metody bezpośrednie dla zadań analizy, (D) metody iteracyjne dla wybranych zadań.
