ECTS credit allocation (and other scores):	2.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles: the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS; the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h; 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes; weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS; work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Short description:	Presentation of fundamental concepts in information and communication technologies. The aim of this subject is to allow students efficient use of computers and networks in their study and subsequent work. The topics discussed include text editing, work with spreadsheets, creating of WWW sites and of presentations.
Full description:	1. Presentation of principles and structure of a typical computer. 2. Description of the role and purpose of an operating system. Exercises in basic operations on files and directories. 3. Review of standard applications (calculators, compression tools). 4. Description of internet browsers and search engines. Exercises in searching for information on the Internet. 5. Discussion of the use of email systems. Exercises in typical use cases (sending attachments, defining filters) 6. Editing of text documents in typical word processors. Defining of the structure of the document and automating work (defining styles, automatic chapter numeration, automatic generation of a table of contents). 7. Presentation of the rules of proper spreadsheets definition. Creating spreadsheets with typical tools. Use of formulas for describing computations. Typical spreadsheet functions (sum, if, vlookup etc.). Creating charts. 8. Creating simple WWW pages in HTML language. Defining the structure of the page. Proper encoding of polish characters. Use of basic tags (title, h1, h2, …, ul, ol, a, img, etc.). If there is enough time also some elements of style sheets (CSS). 9. Creating presentations in typical tools.

Learning outcomes:	(in Polish) Po zakończeniu zajęć Umiejętność wykorzystywania podstawowych technologii informacyjnych w nauce i pracy. Wiedza: Student/ka zna i rozumie: - znajomość podstaw działania komputera i sieci, K_W12, K_K02 - znajomość podstawowych pojęć z zakresu omawianych tematów (edycja tekstu, obliczenia w arkuszu, tworzenie stron WWW), K_K02 - rozróżnianie między treścią a formą przekazywanych informacji (style w edytorze, HTML a CSS). K_K02 - prawne uwarunkowania i odpowiedzialność za ochronę własności intelektualnej (W_W03 FN) - funkcjonowanie ludzkiego organizmu i znaczenie zdrowia fizycznego dla aktywności intelektualnej (K_W22 FN) Umiejętności Student/ka potrafi - umiejętność wyboru właściwego narzędzia informatycznego dla wykonania typowych zadań na komputerze, K_U13 - umiejętność tworzenia dokumentów z wykorzystaniem udogodnień oferowanych przez edytor (style, automatyczne formatowanie, automatyczna numeracja, automatyczne generowanie spisu treści, automatyczne tworzenie bibliografii),K_U13 - umiejętność tworzenia arkuszy kalkulacyjnych (edycja arkusza, wpisywanie formuł, tryby adresowania, najważniejsze funkcje, sortowanie i filtrowanie, tworzenie wykresów), K_U13 - umiejętność tworzenia prostych stron HTML (struktura strony, typowe znaczniki, polskie znaki, arkusze stylów).K_U13 -samodzielnie wyszukać, ocenić i wykorzystać informacje z różnych źródeł pisanych i elektronicznych, z uwzględnieniem zasad ochrony własności intelektualnej (K_U01 FN) - wykorzystać funkcje edytora tekstu i tworzyć spisy treści, odsyłacze, bibliografię, indeksy itp. Assessment methods and assessment criteria:	Final grade assesses practical computer skills. It is calculated from points gained by the student from their homework assignments and final test which takes place at the end of the semester in a laboratory.
